COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a Colombian visa application typically take?

Government review times by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs generally range from 15 to 30 business days once a completed application is lodged. Document preparation and obtaining necessary apostilles/translations usually take 1 to 2 weeks beforehand.

Can the entire process be handled remotely before arrival?

Yes! Visa filings and contract legal reviews can be conducted completely online before you travel. Once your electronic visa (e-Visa) is issued, you travel to Colombia and register in person for your physical Cédula de Extranjería at Migración Colombia.

Why is it essential to have an attorney review Colombian lease agreements?

Colombian tenancy law (Law 820 of 2003) contains specific rules regarding automatic annual renewals, security deposits, and early termination penalties. Having an attorney review your lease prevents abusive clauses, deposit forfeiture, and unwarranted penalty fees.

What payment methods are accepted for advisory services?

We accept international USD credit/debit card payments, Wise, US ACH bank transfers, PayPal, and local Colombian transfers (PSE, Bancolombia).
